The following are the 8 steps to prepare for the PMP Certification Exam:

  1. Attend the 35 contact hours training programme, either through class-room training or through online training.
  2. Read the PMBOK Guide and relevant reference books (like Rita Mulcahy, Head First PMP, etc.).
  3. Start with knowledge area wise practice tests that help you in understanding of core concepts.
  4. Review your knowledge gaps based on the results of the practice tests.
  5. Refer to PMBOK Guide and reference books to fill the gaps in the knowledge.
  6. Try mock tests as the last stage of PMP exam preparation. Mock tests give you an idea of the test environment.
  7. Review your test scores and assess your preparedness for the exam.
  8. Go and take the PMP exam; be a proud holder of the PMP credential.

To successfully ace the PMP certification exam, it is important to practice and test your understanding of the project management concepts. Practice, practice and practice enough questions to get the confidence. The more questions you practice, the better.
